Citizens already pay taxes, utilities, and nearly everything else from a phone. County counters should not be the exception. Online payments only work, though, when they are tied to the same record as the application, the inspection, and the receipt.
A payment is a step, not a side system
GovTracks connects card payments to the process that created the fee — occupational licenses, shelter adoptions, facility reservations, permits, and more. Staff see what was paid. Finance sees an export. The citizen gets a confirmation instead of a paper stub.
Less cash handling, clearer audit trails
The win is not only convenience. It is fewer lines at the window, fewer manual deposits, and a permanent trail when an auditor or a commissioner asks what happened on a Tuesday in March.
